Bedales students offered 10 Oxbridge places

10 Bedales students have received Oxbridge offers this year recording the most success in the last five years. One place is for Cambridge and nine are for Oxford for courses including Medicine, Mathematics, Mathematics and Philosophy, English Language and Literature, History, Biological Sciences, and French. The news follows an impressive nine offers for Bedales students last year.

In addition to Oxbridge, Bedales students have received offers from universities and colleges including Edinburgh, Warwick, Exeter, Nottingham, Leeds, Bristol, York, the School of Oriental & African Studies and the Royal Agricultural College, to study a variety of courses such as Medicine, Mathematics, Mathematics and Philosophy, English Literature, English and Classics, English and Spanish, Politics, History, Biology, and Land Management.

Keith Budge, Headmaster, Bedales Schools commented:

“Congratulations to our sixth formers. I am delighted with the range and quality of this year’s offers, particularly in light of the increased competition for top university places. These results are further testament to the quality of a Bedales education, and the benefits of studying Bedales Assessed Courses in lieu of GCSEs. It is also very satisfying to see that five of the successful Oxbridge applicants progressed to Bedales from our own junior school, Dunhurst.”

Current 6.2 (upper sixth) student, Luke Austen, who has been offered a place to study Medicine at Oxford, said about the interview process “I had four interviews in total, but the tutors were friendly and would prompt you when you got stuck. They weren’t trying to trick you, although on one occasion the answer they were looking for involved getting the patient to stand on his head! We’ve had great support and advice from our teachers, so we’ve been really lucky.”
The Bedales Oxbridge students, six of whom are current 6.2s and four from last year’s 6.2, and their offers are:
