6.2 physicists inspired by CERN

By Claudia White, 6.2
Last weekend 11 6.2 physicists travelled to the Swiss extremities to the home of the apotheosis of science: CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. I now believe that there should be eight wonders of the world. The craftsmanship of the detectors and of the LHC is unmatched by anything else I have seen. Not only is CERN exploring cutting edge physics, it is utilising cutting edge technology and design. It was really awe-inspiring. We will all now view science in a very different way and I will always push for more public funding for science. We dined with physics professors and PHD students and visited the local science museum. As the trip drew to a close I came away with so many great experiences, memories, and wealth of insight.
