By Susan Robson, Head of Computing

Six GCSE Computing students from Blocks 4-5 recently competed at the IBM Blue Fusion event at IBM Hursley, near Winchester, as part of National Science & Engineering Week.

Bedales School - IBM

The Bedales team came second out of 15 schools, which was a fantastic achievement and Bedales best performance to date. The students competed in eight different activities based on ‘Our World in Motion‘ where teamwork and problem solving were the aims of the day, including ‘Flight Frenzy’ where they took on the role of air traffic controllers; ‘Don’t Crash’ where they had to fly a spaceship to another planet and land probes on the surface; and ‘Robo Repair’ which comprised a series of mini-games set in a disaster zone.

IBM staff commented on how well the Bedales team worked together, a major factor in their success.
