New Art & Design building: choice of architects

Having slimmed down the long list of potential architects to 6, a selection panel (under the chairmanship of Chair of Governors, Matthew Rice), met on 7 February to hear presentations from all 6 practices. There were several who were particularly strong contenders, but the final choice was Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios. This is the same practice that designed the Bedales Olivier Theatre. The architects were at Bedales on Friday for the first stage in what will be an extensive process of consultation and collaboration, involving students, staff and parents. The majority of this will happen during the first half of the summer term. Some initial design ideas and examples of previous work by the chosen architects can be seen in the Bedales Reception.
