Dunannie Nursery children embrace Diwali celebration

Children at Bedales Pre-prep Nursery, Dunannie, enjoyed finding out about the special Indian celebration of Diwali. They dressed up in colourful Indian suits and saris, had their hands decorated as part of the tradition and were treated to an Indian inspired food at snack-time.

Commenting on the Nursery’s activities, Jo Webbern, Head of Dunannie, said: “The Nursery, set in a converted barn, provided a wonderful back-drop for the many colourful Indian costumes the children were wearing as they listened to Swapna Nijhawan talk about Diwali. It is great for children at a young age to become aware of the many cultures and beliefs that exist in our society and it was lovely to see how the talk on Diwali captured their imagination. They are looking forward to finding out all about the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah next week.”
