Bedales team battle it out in debating competition

A group of four Bedalians recently participated in the Oxford Union Schools’ Debating Competition at St Catherine’s School. It was very exciting for everyone as we had to debate on unseen topics, using all our general knowledge and debating tricks to win the argument. The first motion was whether or not we should arm all police officers, which was an awkward topic as there are no clear cut arguments either way. The second motion was whether or not to hand out condoms in schools which created some very interesting discussions between the teams whilst the judges deliberated. Unfortunately we didn’t get through despite amazing debating from all. It was a fantastic experience for everyone on the teams and we can’t wait to do it again!
