Block 5 entrepreneurs

Over the past two terms, groups of Block 5s have participated in Young Enterprise, a course for business and enterprise education. After much discussion about what we were to sell, my group decided to gather a variety of American sweets to sell around school. Members of our group had been to parts of the United States and seen the contrast in selection compared to the UK. We bulk-bought and sold our product around the school using an assortment of promotion techniques, for example creating posters, emails and speaking in notices. On 20 March we went to an awards evening at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, to present our progress in front of judges and other schools. It went very well and overall it has been a motivating experience; we’ve discovered that working as a group can be stressful, with differing opinions, but it has been valuable and taught us skills that will aid us greatly in the future.
