Paris sketching

By Lily Lewis, edited and helped by Poppy Riddell, 6.1

A group of 13 sixth form arts and languages students visited Paris for a weekend of culture. It was a late Friday night when we arrived in a dubious district of Paris at the wrong hotel. Would we be camping out? No, Tristan saved the day and whisked us to safe accommodation. The next morning the artists led by Frances headed to the Rodin museum where we whipped out our ink (George would be proud) and pencils to sketch our surroundings of fine sculptures and life drawings in our sketch books. More inspirational visits followed to places such as the Louvre and the Musee D’Orsay, as well as a romantic boat ride and a trip up the Eiffel Tower. The voyage lead us to appreciate art in a relaxing and enjoyable way. A big thank you to our surrogate parents, Tristan and Frances, for taking us on, and to Alison and Marie-Pierre who organised it.
