This Wednesday Bedales held for the first time a national Boarding Conference entitled Thriving in a changing world; it was filled with many different discussions, lectures and workshops which both staff and students from Bedales and 40 other schools attended. Nicola Morgan’s talk Blame my Brain was fascinating about how teenagers can get to know their brain and gave us information about how it works, but more importantly, how to deal with stress. She emphasised how stress is actually a good thing because you perform more effectively under stress when it’s managed. Nicola Morgan is one of the top speakers on how your brain works; it was an incredible journey through the talk as she said at the start she would change our minds, and she did for the better. Jackie Cox’s discussion on self harm and resilience took a very relaxed approach about coping with stress in a positive way rather than getting bogged down with things. The afternoon involved tours of the school and a poster workshop consolidating what we’d learned during the morning. A great day all round! View Twitter feed #boardingconf15
